From the Indus
to the Inn.

I'm Aun Dastgir, a hydraulic engineer working on alpine flood protection in Tirol. Ten years of water engineering across Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Europe and the US, now focused on 2D river modelling, hazard zone planning and the Python tools that make both faster.

About

Water engineering across three continents

I grew up in Lahore, a city on the Ravi. My first job site was Tarbela Dam on the Indus, the largest earth-filled dam in the world. Since then my work has followed rivers across three continents: the Var in Nice, the drainage networks of Berlin, the Colorado in Austin, and today the rivers and torrents of Tirol.

At Patscheider und Partner in Schwaz, I build 2D hydraulic models for flood protection and river engineering projects, working in German with municipalities, planners and authorities. Alongside that, I am in the final stage of a PhD at the University of Innsbruck on the resilience of urban water networks.

What makes my work different is the combination: practical alpine river engineering, research-level network analysis, and the habit of writing Python tools that turn slow modelling workflows into fast ones.
